We take your privacy seriously.

Wheelo is a smart vehicle contact system built and operated from Pune, Maharashtra, India. We help vehicle owners be contactable in situations like wrong parking, emergencies, or when someone needs to reach them about their vehicle — without ever exposing their personal phone number.

When you register your vehicle on Wheelo, we collect:

• Your name — to show on the scan result page (you can choose to hide this)
• Your mobile number — to send you notifications when someone scans your QR. This is NEVER shown to the person scanning.
• Emergency contact number — only used when someone triggers an emergency scan
• Vehicle details — plate number, make, model, colour, year — shown to the scanner so they can confirm it's the right vehicle
• Address, city, state — used for our admin operations and city-wise analytics. Not shown to scanners.

When someone scans your QR, we log:

• The reason they selected (parking issue, emergency, etc.)
• Any message they typed
• Timestamp of the scan
• Location if they chose to share it

We use your data only to make Wheelo work:

• To display your vehicle information when your QR is scanned
• To route contact messages to you without revealing your number
• To send you notifications when someone scans your QR
• To alert your emergency contact in an SOS situation
• To help our admin team resolve disputes or support requests

We share your data with the absolute minimum number of services needed to run Wheelo:

• Supabase — our database provider (servers in EU/US). Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
• Twilio — used to send SMS notifications and enable masked calls. They receive your phone number only to deliver messages to you.
• No one else. We do not share data with marketing companies, analytics brokers, or any third party for commercial purposes.

We may disclose your information if required by Indian law, court order, or to prevent fraud — but only what is legally required and nothing more.

You are in control of your data on Wheelo:

• Hide your name — during registration, uncheck "Show my name publicly" and you appear as "Anonymous" to anyone who scans your QR
• Deactivate your QR — you can deactivate your sticker anytime from your account. The physical sticker stops working immediately.
• Delete your account — email us at support@getwheelo.com and we will delete all your personal data within 7 working days
• Update your details — contact us anytime to update your phone number, vehicle details, or emergency contact

We take reasonable steps to protect your data:

• All data is transmitted over HTTPS — encrypted in transit
• Your database is hosted on Supabase with row-level security — meaning your data can only be accessed by authorised requests
• Admin access to the database requires authenticated login with a secure password
• Phone numbers are never stored in QR codes or URLs — only an anonymous token is encoded

No system is 100% secure. If you ever suspect your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately at support@getwheelo.com.

Wheelo uses minimal cookies — only what is needed to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking on this site.

Wheelo is intended for vehicle owners and is not directed at anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered on Wheelo, please contact us and we will delete the account immediately.

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will notify registered users via SMS or email before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.

We will never change this policy in a way that reduces your privacy protections without giving you advance notice and a chance to delete your account.

This policy is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes related to privacy will be subject to the jurisdiction of courts in Pune, Maharashtra. Wheelo complies with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) of India.
